News Updates: May 2016

Hey all. I've got a real busy month ahead of me as I get in gear for the Summer touring/festival season (more on that below). Only a few public gigs, unfortunately, but I'd love to see everybody before I hit the road! Come out to a show, or just let me know if you'd like to grab coffee/drinks/lunch.

UPCOMING SHOWS

Most of my public gigs this month, so far, are with roots reggae group Cannon & the Lion of Judah. Playing in this group has brought me more joy than almost any musical endeavor I've participated in for a long time. Come out to one of the shows and shake your booty!

Cannon & the Lion of Judah May Dates

May 13th @ Red Lounge; 8pm

May 20th @ Anchor Bar; 8pm

May 27th @ The Cellar Door; 8pm

More on Cannon & the Lion of Judah can be found here: http://cannonlionofjudah.weebly.com/

I'll also be playing a duo jazz set with Lion of Judah keyboardist David Ballard at the end of the month. It'll be low key, and a great hang if you want to stop by, chill out, and maybe even sit in!

David Ballard and Dylan Welsh @ The Anchor Pub (Everett)

5pm-8pm; No cover!

Featuring:

David Ballard - Piano

Dylan Welsh - Guitar

NEWS

Summer Tour with Dylan Jakobsen

As I've mentioned in previous newsletters, I've recently been playing some local dates with Seattle-based national country artist Dylan Jakobsen. It's been a ton of fun, and I'm really excited to be joining him on his Summer festival tour. We'll be going all over the country between June and September, and I'm really hoping to see some of my out-of-state buddies while we're out! We leave June 2nd; I'll include more details in next month's newsletter.

Dylan Jakobsen's tour band will include:

Ben Brockman - Bass

Christopher Ghazel - Drums

Dylan Welsh - Electric Guitar

"Ghosts" One Year Anniversary

It's hard to believe, but it's already been a year since I worked with Seattle-based artist Kathleen Parrish on her "Ghosts" single. It was a big project, that included some incredible talent. We spent the whole day at legendary London Bridge Studios with expert engineer Dave West behind the board, and managed to get all the tracking done in that timeframe. I had the pleasure of mixing it myself, and the guys at Mercury Mastering did a great job on the finished product. If you haven't given it a listen yet, I'd recommend it!

Stream and purchase "Ghosts" by Kathleen Parrish at https://parrish.bandcamp.com/

Credits on "Ghosts" are as follows:

Vocals performed by Kathleen Parrish

Guitar performed by Dylan Welsh

Piano performed by Sarah Mahoney

Drums performed by Luca Cartner

Bass performed by Dylan Welsh

Engineered by Dave West

Recorded at London Bridge Studios

Mastered by Mercury Mastering

Mixed by Dylan Welsh

There's some great photo/video of the session floating around social media, here's a shot I took with the rig I used: https://www.instagram.com/p/3UhadBRZYp/?taken-by=dwelshmusic

That's all for this month! As always, keep an eye on my calendar at dwelshmusic.com to keep up with any new gigs that I book for the month. I'd love to hang out before I hit the road, so definitely get in touch!

Dylan Welsh
