News Updates: August 2016

Hello friends and colleagues

I've sure had a crazy Summer thus far, and have gotten to play a lot of cool shows in a lot of new places. I'm finishing out the Summer strong with a few local live appearances coming up this month. Now's the time to come out and see some live music while this beautiful weather lasts!

I've been on the road with contemporary country artist Dylan Jakobsen for most of the Summer, which has been a blast. We've got a few upcoming dates spread around the PWN this month; if you're out camping or traveling, I'd love to see some of y'all! Dylan Jakobsen August Dates: 8/8 @ Clark County Fair (Ridgefield, WA) 8/14 @ Festival of the River (Arlington, WA) 8/26 @ Brenton Franklin Fair (Kennewick, WA) 8/27 @ Whiskey Jacques (Ketchum, ID) 8/28 @ St. Chappelle Winery (Caldwell, ID) More on Dylan Jakobsen can be found at Now, if you're looking to catch some wonderfully chill Summer vibes, I will of course be playing a few really fun dates with roots-reggae outfit Cannon & the Lion of Judah. In my (fairly biased) opinion, there isn't really a better way to come spend the warm evenings we have left. Cannon & the Lion of Judah August Dates: 8/6 @ Pono Ranch 8/11 @ Tony V's Garage 8/25 @ Tony V's Garage More on Cannon & the Lion of Judah can be found at It seems that I'm getting more and more calls within the Country idiom these days, and this month, I'll be joining up with Eastern WA based Zach Hinson for a short run over on the east side. Zach is a really nice dude, and I'm really looking forward to working with him. Zach Hinson August Dates: 8/18 @ Downtown Summer Nights (Yakima, WA) 8/19 & 8/20 TBA More on Zach Hinson can be found at In addition to my usual groups, I've got a couple of exciting one-off dates coming up.: I'm gearing up to start playing more solo guitar gigs in the area, which will combine my love of unaccompanied jazz guitar with my passion for traditional classical guitar repertoire. Keep an eye out as I book more of these, it'll be a fun and challenging opportunity to work the limits of my chops, and I'd love to get some feedback. Dylan Welsh Solo Guitar: 8/6 @ Cafe Louvre (4-5pm) I also have the honor of subbing in with the Morganica Quintet at their weekly Mo Jam Monday session towards the end of the month. If you haven't come out to Mo Jam yet, you're seriously missing out. It's one of the most fun weekly hangouts in the city, for players and listeners alike. With The Morganica Quintet @ Mo Jam Mondays 8/22 @ Nectar Lounge Bring your axe and your dancing shoes!

NEWS Dylan Welsh on the Sonicbids Blog I spent a lot of time writing for the Sonicbids Music Blog when I first moved back to Seattle, and I was graciously invited to pen another article for them recently. This one is specific to Seattle, and I talk about some of my favorite places to book gigs if you're an up-and-coming or newly formed band. The article can be found at: If you're curious, a full archive of my previous Sonicbids pieces can be found at: Now Available: The Hitchhiker EP by Brittany Collins I had the pleasure of joining Ms. Brittany Collins at her EP Release Show last month up in Arlington. Her music is a joy to play and listen to, and her new EP sounds rad. If you're into female fronted bluesy rock, this is right up you're alley. The Hitchhiker EP is available for stream and purchase at: More on Brittany Collins can be found at: Now Available: Out of School by Megs Mclean Getting back on the modern Country train, rising artist Megs Mclean has just released her first full EP. I've worked with Megs quite a bit over the last couple of years, and it's been fun watching her progress as an artist. If you've been digging all the country stuff I've been doing lately, this might be a record to check out. Out of School is available for stream and purchase at: More on Megs Mclean can be found at:

Alrighty, that's about all I have to share for this month! Keep checking back in on my webpage, as new public performances dates get added regularly. One last thing I'll mention: Is there anybody that you know that's been asking about guitar lessons? I'm gearing up to make my Fall school year push, and I'd love to take on a few more students! I teach both in-person and over Skype, and I work with folks of any skill level, ages 10 and up. I have great referral policy as well! Thanks as always for your continued support, Dylan Welsh
